The Cincinnati Bengals have officially introduced their newest offensive lineman with an intimidating moniker that perfectly captures his on-field presence. In a recent Instagram post, the team revealed that first-round draft pick Amarius Mims goes by “The Menace” – a fitting nickname for the 6-foot-8, 340-pound tackle expected to make an immediate impact on the Bengals’ offensive line.

The Instagram post features Mims in his new Bengals uniform, looking formidable in the team’s iconic black and orange stripes. The simple caption “He goes by ‘The Menace'” serves as both an introduction and a warning to opposing defenses about what they’ll soon be facing in Cincinnati.

Mims, selected 18th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, joins the Bengals after a standout career at the University of Georgia, where he was part of back-to-back national championship teams. Despite limited starting experience (only eight starts in college due to injuries and a deep Georgia roster), Mims’ rare combination of size, strength, and athleticism made him one of the most coveted offensive line prospects in this year’s draft class.

The Bengals’ social media accounts have been actively documenting Mims’ introduction to the team. In another recent post captioned “Got our guy!” the team shared footage of the draft selection announcement, showing their excitement about landing the massive tackle. The organization clearly believes Mims can provide much-needed protection for franchise quarterback Joe Burrow, who has faced significant pressure in previous seasons.

The team also shared a touching moment from draft day with the caption “So happy to be a Bengal 🐯” showing Mims’ genuine excitement about joining the organization. In another post titled “Prime time pick,” the team highlighted their first-round selection, demonstrating their confidence in Mims’ ability to make an impact from day one.

Perhaps most revealing was a post capturing the moment Mims received his life-changing call from the Bengals coaching staff. Captioned “‘I’ve been waiting on you Coach’ – @jumpboy.marr,” the video shows the emotional exchange as Mims realizes his NFL dream is becoming reality.

Founded in 1967, the Cincinnati Bengals compete in the AFC North division of the NFL. The team has experienced both significant success and challenging rebuilding periods throughout their history. After reaching the Super Bowl in the 2021 season (losing to the Los Angeles Rams), the Bengals have been focused on strengthening their roster to make another championship run.

The selection of Mims addresses a critical need for the Bengals. In a post captioned “Edge Energy!” the team showcased their commitment to improving the offensive line that will protect Burrow, who signed a massive contract extension in 2023, making him one of the highest-paid players in NFL history.

Team leader and offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. (tagged as @zeus__57 in an earlier post) welcomed Mims with a “special draft dey message,” suggesting the veteran is ready to mentor the rookie as he transitions to the professional level. Brown’s endorsement carries significant weight, as he’s established himself as one of the premier tackles in the league.

The nickname “The Menace” seems particularly appropriate given the Bengals’ own ferocious feline identity. In a post captioned “Bringin’ the heat. #WhoDey,” the team continues to build excitement around their new additions, with Mims expected to be a cornerstone of their offensive line for years to come.

Another post showing Mims in his college uniform with the caption “This… but in stripes” highlights the team’s excitement about seeing the massive tackle don the iconic Bengals uniform. The transformation from Georgia Bulldog to Cincinnati Bengal represents a new chapter for both Mims and the franchise.

As the Bengals prepare for the upcoming season with “New stripes loading” (as captioned in another post), fans are eager to see if “The Menace” can live up to his intimidating nickname and help propel Cincinnati back into Super Bowl contention.

For a team looking to reclaim its position among the AFC elite, adding a player who already comes with an intimidating nickname like “The Menace” seems like a perfect fit for the Jungle.
